History of Ramadan (Ramadan meaning):
Ramadan is the ninth month according to the calendar of Islam. The term Ramadan factually means burning in Arabic. It was recognized as a Holy Month for Muslims after the Quran was sent to the Prophet Muhammad in 610 CE on the instance acknowledged as Laylat al-Qadr, often interpreted as “the Night of Power. Observance of Ramadan is directed in the Quran in Surah 2, Ayah 185:
“The month of Ramzan is that in which teaching of Quran was revealed for the Muslims and clear rules of guidance and benchmark so whoever gets this month, let him fast”
“Oh Muslims fasting is commanded upon you as it was commanded upon those before you that you may become righteous”
Ramadan Rules
Here are some of the rules of fasting during Ramadan:
- During the month of Ramadan, Muslims are gratified to refrain from eating or drinking during daylight hours.
- If a fast is broken, it will need to be remunerated by fasting at a later date. Or they can pay “fidyah”, a spiritual term for a donation of food or money.
- Fasting is one of the 5 pillars of Islam, so all adult Muslims are anticipated to fast.
- It is thought that refraining from these activities will lead to greater “taqwa”, or cognizance of God.
Importance of Ramadan/Ramzan
Ramadan lets Muslims focus their minds on devotion to their faith through prayers or ibadat, and allow them to convey gratitude, pursuing forgiveness, and helping the needy. Fasting is important for Muslims due to numerous reasons. Ramadan makes Muslims raise the value of food, thank Allah for what they have, and make them closer to each other and the people around them.

Importance of the last 10 days of Ramadan
Waking up in the mid of the night for prayer is point out in the Qur’an. Dua for First Ashra of Ramadan/Ramzan
The first Ashra is from 1st to the tenth of Ramadan. The first ten days of Ramadan are considered the days of Mercy. Every Muslim should search for the mercy of Almighty Allah during these days.
Dua for second Ashra of Ramadan
The 2nd Ashra of Ramzan indicates plead of “Astaghfaar”, interpreted as “Apology” from ALLAH Almighty, for all the offenses committed knowledgeably or mistakenly. These 10 days of Ramadan Kareem are the days of Forgiveness so seek ALLAH’s forgiveness, and ask forgiveness for all sins.
Dua for third Ashra of Ramadan:
Muslims are suggested to take the month of Ramadan and especially its last ten days as a period to ask Allah to defend them from entering the hellfire. It is a period in which a regretful person has an opportunity for their sins to be erased by Allah.
Lailat-ul-Qadr (Shab e Qadar 2024) – The night of Power
Firstly, Shab-e-Qadr (the Night of Qadr) is a highly worthy night as the Holy Quran was sent on the holy heart of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) in this night. Secondly, there are 3 probable nights that might contain the Shab-e-Qadr – the 19th, 21st, and the 23rd night of Ramadan. Most of the scholars concern the 23rd of Ramadan as the most probable night of Qadr.
